Special Notes on Monster and it's TP Moves

Qiqirn rangers will fight for a bit when engaged, and then run away. They will often run to a group of other Qiqirn, which will link and attack. The original Qiqirn will run out of targeting distance, and then come back a short time later (usually after regenerating HP) to attack whoever had hate. If you pursue them, they will occasionally turn around and attack before running again.

Qiqirn thieves will run away when you engage them in combat, dropping Qiqirn bombs behind them which explode on contact, and cause fire damage. The bombs can be safely destroyed by magic or ranged attack if you are far enough away.

None of the TP moves are a problem.

Obtaining the Spell
Minimum Blue Mage Level Needed To Acquire Spell: Level 58 with Magus Jubbah equipped, 60 without.
Sandspray is best hunted in Caedarva Mire.

This spell can be safely soloed by a Blue Mage above level 72 or so. It's much safer and easier to duo it with a Tank.

Party members should have Eye Drops for Blindness.

Qiqirn Hunting Grounds Camp #1
Name Level Location
Qiqirn Mireguide (RNG/THF?) 67-69 Caedarva Mire
Qiqirn Rock Hound (RNG/THF?) 67-69 Caedarva Mire

Once you zone into Caedarva Mire from Nashmau's West exit, head to the camp at H-10. There is a safe place to pull to, in the narrow path just before the area opens up to where the Graveyard is.

There are seven Qiqirn in the area marked above with a red circle. There are also three true sight Orderly Imps here, and undead lurk after dark. Take care when pulling. The Qiqirn are only about during the daytime hours. So once night falls you'll need to wait until morning to pull again.

This is the best camp for the spell because unlike in other areas, here the Qiqirn do not run away from you once you start a fight.

If you are soloing, Debuff the Qiqirn, and then attack with damage spells as if it was an exp target. Adjust your damage output as needed to make the Monster last long enough to use the spell.

A Blue Mage with a Tank operating as a Duo will have no problems with this spell. Simply keep your tank healed and status free, and things will go easily. If you have a party it's a snap.

Qiqirn Hunting Grounds Camp #2
Name Level Location
Qiqirn Enterpriser/Lieuter 68-70 Aydeewa Subterrane
Qiqirn Mercenary 71-73 Halvung
Qiqirn Diamantaire 72-73 Halvung
Qiqirn Archaeologist/Mosstrooper 73-75 Aydeewa Subterrane
Qiqirn Goldsmith/Poulterer 77 Mamook
Qiqirn Trailer/Treasure Hunter 77 Arrapago Reef

There are other, and higher level Qiqirn to be found in many other areas. They do not make as good targets because these Qiqirn run away from fights, and link. Because there is the excellent lower level camp, these are not recommended.

Special notes about the spell a Blue Mage may like to know
Can I solo it? Yes. You should have no problems by level 72 in camp #1. A Duo is simpler.
Do I need any special items? Yes, Eye Drops for Sandspray's blind can help. A warp item will save you a long walk home.
Do Qiqirn like to use the move? Yes. They seem to use it often.
The Spell's Blind effect seems to stick well.
Sandspray can be paired with any of the following spells to create the Clear Mind Trait: Poison Breath, Soporific, Venom Shell, Awful Eye, Filamented Hold, Maelstrom, Feather Tickle, Corrosive Ooze, Warm-Up, Lowing, or Mind Blast.
