Special Notes on Monster and it's TP Moves
Appears high above the
ground level, and cannot be targeted or viewed on Widescan until they
attack a player character and descend, similar to Ul'yovra and
Om'yovra. There is often a telltale vortex on the ground directly
beneath them. Due to the mobs True Sight, one must be in front of it to get attacked, not under, it is best to be in front of it while it is actually moving in order for it to spot you. The Knockback effect that the mob gets from Reaving Wind is not a one time thing. It's an effect that lasts for a bit or until it is dispelled. It 'pulses' and can be very disruptive to the fight, or knock you into local mobs that want to eat your face. |

Reaving
Wind is
best hunted
in Beaucedine
Glacier (S) or Xarcabard (S)
This spell can be soloed by a Very Very Skilled BLU. But a Small party is a better option. Are special items are needed? Luck. To catch one of the 6 spawns. A way to sneak/Invis yourself to where you'll fight. A way to Dispell is a huge help.
There are Three spawns on the glacier. They are located around G-8, I-8/I-9, and J-8. There is aggro all over the zone so care must be taked getting to, and during battle. These monsters have been soloed and duoed by many different job combinations, most using a Kite/DOT method for mages, or backing up against a solid object to deal with knockback and Blood-Tanking with a healer about. DNC and BST's have reported successful solos. A 85 PLD and WHM can easily duo the mobs. So a group of BLU's shoud be able to handle killing these without too much trouble, but if you can find a friendly PLD to help things will be simpler. It is recommended that all players fight on the monsters sides, directly under its wings. This will cause it not to use Tail Lash and it will be less likely to use Storm Wing.
Of course there is aggro all over the zone that can be a problem during the fight. Remember that Imps have true sight. There are many around waiting to jump you. The mobs here are a bit higher so they take a bit more killing, but are not much harder then the ones in the glacier. The same rules for fights and security hold here, as in camp #1. The best place to fight in this zone is at the Campaign Tower. You can back up against it to survive the Knockback, and there are no local mobs in the are to cause problems.

Special notes about the spell a Blue Mage may like to know
Can I solo it? Yes, if you are good! But it would be dangerous. A small Party is much much better.
Do I need any special items? Having a warp item to get home after you learn to save the walk is nice
Do Amphiptere like to use the move? They seem to use it as much as the others.
The spell removes 100% TP to enemies hit. When players use the spell there is no Knockback :(
Reaving Wind can be paired with Cimicine Discharge or Leafstorm to create the Mag. Burst Bonus Trait. |
