Obtaining the Spell
Minimum Blue Mage Level Needed To Acquire Spell: Level 82 with Magus Jubbah equipped, 85 without.
Heavy Strike is best hunted in Abyssea - Uleguerand.

This spell can be safely soloed at 90.

You will need a way to sneak and invisible or cruor to conflux warp to camp.

Golem Hunting Grounds Camp #1
Name Level Location
Verglos Golem 81-83?? Abyssea - Uleguerand

~

There is a great camp in Abyssea - Uleguerand. There are many Golums there, and safe places to fight them.

Zone into Abyssea - Uleguerand and get your time, and Atma/Abyssite buffs, then take the conflux to #7. This will place you near the camp that is circled in red on the above map. There is a nice camp just a short walk after you warp in. I like near the wall after you walk past the top of the ramp down to the previous level. It's a nice safe spot to pull the mobs to and fight without any aggro worries.

The Verglos Golum here should not give a level 90 BLU any troubles for solo. They can hit hard, but not so much so that shawdows or healing cannot keep up. Grab a Golum, pull i to your safe spot, feed TP and wait (and wait and wait) to see the spell, kill and hopefully learn. Golums just love to use all of their Crystal TP moves, and it can take a bit to see Heavy Strike at times. Be patient. With the buffs, you should not have any issues here.

Be warned a NM Golum pops randomly among the other Golum here, and he is a rude surprise to pull by accident. I wager that the skilled BLU/NIN out there can solo him, but if you are not ready it's dirt nap time.

Golem Hunting Grounds Camp #2
Name Level Location
Stone Golem 40-42 Beaucedine Glacier

There are five spawns in the zone, all are noted on the map above. Two of the spawn points are close at I-9/J-9 on a small plateau. Respawn on these Golems is not too bad. So waiting for more is not a big issue.

Get to camp, and pull a golem to it. Feed TP, See Move, hopefully learn the spell. There is no risk at all for a 90 BLU other then killing the mob too fast.

Golem Hunting Grounds Camp #3
Name Level Location
Ore Golem 43-45 Fei'Yin

In Fei'Yin there are Nine Ore Golem spawns on the first floor. They are a decent option.

Feeding TP to the Golem with your low damage weapon. See, and learn!

Golem Hunting Grounds Camp #4
Name Level Location
Rock Golem 49-50 Sanctuary of Zi'Tah
Colossus 56-58 Fei'Yin
Mythril Golem 69-70 Ro'Maeve
Enkidu 77-80 Ve'Lugannon Palace
Aura Statue 79-84 Shrine of Ru'Avitau
Darksteel Golem 80-82 Ro'Maeve

There are Golums all over, but most are annoying to walk to. But if you like one of the above zones, the kills are easy.

Special notes about the spell a Blue Mage may like to know
Can I solo it? Yes, you should be able to with a tiny bit of care.
Do I need any special items? Just a way to sneak and invisible yourself to camp. A low damage weapon to feed the monster TP is useful.
Do Golem like to use the move? They like the Crystal Weapon moves a lot more due to there being four types of them, so it can take a long time to see Heavy Strike.
The damage from the spell is very impressive. It's like a high level bludgeon.
Heavy Strike can be paired with ??? to create the ??? Trait.
