Obtaining the Spell
Minimum Blue Mage Level Needed To Acquire Spell: Level 2
Head Butt is best hunted in North or South Gustaberg.

This spell can be soloed starting at level 2. No party is needed for the Gustaberg camps.

Bring some antidotes in case a caster class Quadav lands Poison on you. Have a way to recover HP to counter Dia and Bio.

Just head out from Bastok and kill Quadav. Amber Quadav are BLM, and Amethyst are WHM. Both can cast some long lasting spells like Dia, and Poison, that can kill you if you get low in HP. Be ready to deal with them.

If you choose to get the spell in the Konschtat Highlands, or Pashhow Marshlands, you should be at least level 13 or higher. Beware of aggro from Goblins and other monsters if you hunt there at lower levels.

There are many other Quadav class monsters all over the world. They are all higher in level, and many will require a party, or skilled help to kill. With so many easy low level options, they are not recommended.

 
Special notes about the spell a Blue Mage may like to know
Can I solo it? Yes. A very easy spell to solo starting at level 2.
Do I need any special items? No, but a low damage weapon to feed the Monster TP helps.
Do Quadav like to use the move? Yes, It seems to be used often.
The Spell deals Blunt damage. Head Butt is perhaps the best spell in the entire game. Every Blue Mage always has it set. You want this as soon as you can use it.
