Special Notes on Monster and it's TP Moves

Troll Cannoneers are the Unarmored Trolls. They come in Four job types; Monk, Red Mage, Ranger, and Puppetmaster. They all have a lot of HP. The Rangers have some special ranged attacks.

Enerviation lowers both Defense by about 10% and Magic Defense by 8 points. It can increase the damage you take by a noticeable bit.

The Petrifaction from Rock Smash is dangerous.

Obtaining the Spell
Minimum Blue Mage Level Needed To Acquire Spell: Level 58 with Magus Jubbah equipped, 61 without.
Enervation is best hunted in the Wajaom Woodlands.

This spell can not be soloed at learn level. You will need a small party, or a skilled Level 75 solo-class (BST, NIN, RDM). A basic experience party set up will work very well. A level 70 BLU/BST can solo the spell at camp #2.

Party members should have a way to remove Petrafication, so a White Mage is called for. Having a way to silence a monster can help. There is aggro on the way to camp, so Sneak and Invisible spells or items, or a Chocobo to get to camp is needful. A warp item will save a long walk home.

Troll Cannoneers Hunting Grounds Camp #1
Name Level Location
Woodtroll Monk 72-73 Wajaom Woodlands
Woodtroll Ranger 72-73 Wajaom Woodlands

Zone into Wajaom Woodlands and proceed to C-8 on the map. In the south part of this area there is a tunnel that zones into Halvung, this is a safe camp. There will be sight and sound aggro on the way to it, so take precautions. Taking a Chocobo to camp is a perfect solution. Hopefully the Chocobo stable NPC has not been kidnapped! At this camp you will find four Trolls, only two, the Unarmored Cannoneers can teach you the spell. This camp is slightly better then the Thickets camp, because here, the Cannoneers are Monks and Rangers, which are less annoying to fight then the Red Mage and Puppetmaster types in the Bhaflau Thickets.

Pull the Trolls down to the safe camp and treat them like an experience monster. They do aggro and link, so take care with your pulls. You may need to kill the Hoplite type Trolls to keep your pulls of the Cannoneer clean.

A average party should have no problems in this camp.

Troll Cannoneers Hunting Grounds Camp #2
Name Level Location
Troll Sabreur (RDM) 71-73 Bhaflau Thickets
Troll Surveillant (PUP) 71-73 Bhaflau Thickets

Zone into Bhaflau Thickets and proceed to F-8 on the map. On the west side of this area there is a tunnel that zones into Halvung, this is a safe camp. There will be sight and sound aggro on the way to it, so take precautions. Taking a Chocobo to camp is a perfect solution. Hopefully the Chocobo stable NPC has not been kidnapped! At this camp you will find four Trolls. Three of them, the Unarmored Troll Sabreur, and the two Troll Surveillants, can teach you the spell.

Pull the Trolls down to the safe camp and treat them like an experience monster. They do aggro and link, so take care with your pulls. You may need to kill the Hoplite type Trolls to keep your pulls of the Cannoneers clean. There are a few Date Eruca in the pull area, they will aggro to sound so take care. The Troll Sabreur will cast magic, so silencing him is a plus. The Surveillants each have a Troll's Automaton with them, and they have to be dealt with also. They can be annoying, depending on the type it is, but are not too bad to deal with. Pulling them first works well, though if the owner sees his puppet leaving, he will link with it.

A average party should have no problems in this camp.

A level 70 BLU/BST can solo the spell at this camp. It is likely possible to solo before 70 without Leave, but the need to conserve Leech pets makes that hard. Note that if you run out of Leeches, you may need to charm Tigers. Tigers have some charm resistance, which increases the risk of doing this, so not letting your Leech pets die is important. Keep Zephyr Mantle up for all pet swaps.

Pull the Trolls from F-9/F-8 and bring them to G-8. Using leech pets, you will be able to slowly deplete the Troll's HP. However, it takes a long time to kill them, because of continuous use of Diamondhide. Also if you are planning on fighting a Troll Surveillant, make sure you pull his Puppet first without him seeing it. The puppet has lower HP, and very weak defense, so they will die fairly fast. Then you can move on to the Troll.

Once the Troll is low on HP move in and finish it with Blue Magic and hopefully learn your spell.

Troll Cannoneers Hunting Grounds Camp #3
Name Level Location
Troll Cameist (RDM) 71-75 Halvung
Troll Smelter (RNG) 71-75 Halvung
Troll Stoneworker (MNK) 71-75 Halvung
Troll Artilleryman (RNG) 72-75 Halvung
Troll Engraver (PUP) 72-75 Halvung
Troll Cuirasser (RDM) 78-80 Halvung
Troll Grenadier (RNG) 78-80 Halvung
Troll Machinist (PUP) 78-80 Halvung
Hilltroll Red Mage 79-83 Mount Zhayolm
Hilltroll Puppetmaster 79-83 Mount Zhayolm
Hilltroll Ranger 79-83 Mount Zhayolm

There are Higher level Troll Cannoneers in other areas. They are not much harder then the Trolls in Camp 1 or 2, but the zones have a bit more aggro, and camps are harder to reach. A basic experience party can deal with these, though the Hilltrolls take a lot of killing.

Troll Cannoneers Hunting Grounds Camp #4

Troll Speculator (PUP) ??? Troll Mercenaries Besieged
Troll Stormer (RDM) ??? Troll Mercenaries Besieged

Enervation can be learned in a Troll Mercenaries Besieged. You, a party, or alliance member must get the killing blow on the Troll for a chance to learn the spell. You do not need to have had engaged the monster yourself to learn the spell.
