Special Notes on Monster and it's TP Moves

The Slug moves can be dangerous.

The Bio from Purulent Ooze is nasty, and Max HP down is never fun. Worse is Fuscous Ooze, which deals Encumberance, a move that removes all of your Armor and Weapons, and prevents them from being equipped again for a short bit. Needless to say, with Blue Magic's Acc based on your weapon's skill level, not having one equipped can cause many spells to miss!

Slugs aggro by sound, and will link.

The use of any Water Based Magic, or Weapon Skills on a Slug will heal it's HP by the amount of the damage.

Obtaining the Spell
Minimum Blue Mage Level Needed To Acquire Spell: Level 58 with Magus Jubbah equipped, 60 without.
Corrosive Ooze is best hunted in Rolanberry Fields [S].

This spell can be soloed at Camp #1 with care, at the point you can learn it.

Nothing special is is needed for hunting the spell.

Slug Hunting Grounds Camp #1
Name Level Location
Scabrous Slug 56-62 Rolanberry Fields [S]

There are two Slug camps in Rolanberry Fields [S], Camp A at D/E-9/10 with seven Scabrous Slugs and Camp B at J-10 with eight of them. The map above shows where they can be found circled in red. Camp A is a great place to hunt the spell. There is no aggro, and it's easy to get to. There are several Goblins near the Slugs in and around Camp B that will aggro, making it a less then perfect place to hunt, so use Camp A. There is sound aggro possible from the occasional Quadav and Gobbue on the way to camp, so take proper care.

The Slugs here con as EP to a level 75, so they can be soloed without too much trouble if you are of high level. Care must be taken to stun Fuscous Ooze which can cause a lot of issues with its Pathos like Encumberance move. Using /BST is a great way to farm the spell, as you can pit the Slugs against each other and avoid any worry of the moves. Remember that Slugs link, so take care when you pull, and where you choose to fight.

Setting Exuviation to erase the Bio, and other negative moves is a big help, or being /WHM, or bringing a friendly WHM helper along will do the job also.

Remember to not use any Water based spells or Weapon Skills on the slugs. Such actions will restore HP equal to the damage you deal to the Slug!

Note, at night, a Ghost type monster named 'Evil Spirit' will pop in this Camp. It cons as TW to a level 75, and EP to a level 60. If you are in aggro level, watch for low HP to save yourself some trouble.

Slug Hunting Grounds Camp #2
Name Level Location
Lou Carcolh 70-73 Pashhow Marshlands [S]

There are about two dozen Lou Carcolh scattered about the Northern and Eastern parts of Pashhow Marshlands [S] as marked on the map above with red dots. They are of higher level then the Slugs in Rolanberry Fields [S], conning DC to a level 75. So they are harder targets. Also there is roving Quadav just about everyplace the Lou Carcolh are in the zone, and it is difficult to find an aggro free place to fight. So based on these two factors, the camp is not recommended, but as always you can learn here if you want!

Special notes about the spell a Blue Mage may like to know
Can I solo it? Yes. In your mid to upper 60's you can in camp #1.
Do I need any special items? No, but /WHM, or a way to erase negative effects helps a lot.
Do Slugs like to use the move? Yes! With only three TP moves to choose from, they use it often.
The Attack Down and Defense Down effects from the spell seems to be 5% for each.
Corrosive Ooze can be paired with any of the following spells to create the Clear Mind Trait: Poison Breath, Soporific, Venom Shell, Awful Eye, Filamented Hold, Maelstrom, Feather Tickle, Sandspray, Warm-Up, Lowing, or Mind Blast
