Special Notes on Monster and it's TP Moves

Wamouracampa switch between a ball-like curled up state, and a uncurled one. When in the curled state the only TP moves they will use are Cannonball and Heat Barrier. The do not use these moves in the uncurled state. A very consistent way to get them to curl up, is with a good damage spike from spell or WS damage. If you just melee with them they will tend to stay in offensive form.

The damage from Heat Barriers spikes is very large, at about 50hp per hit.

The burn from Vitriolic Spray is about 30hp per tick.

Wamouracampa have high defense, and can take quite the pounding.

 

Obtaining the Spell
Minimum Blue Mage Level Needed To Acquire Spell: Level 61 with Magus Jubbah equipped, 64 without.
Cannonball is best hunted in Mount Zhayolm.

A solid party is recommended for this spell, with a dedicated tank. A basic exp party works very well. Several damage dealers or Black mages are helpful to kill the Wamouracampa. A 70 BLU/NIN can solo this spell.

One person in your party must have the key item from the cast metal plates to open the Gates of Halvung to reach camp. Equipping Blank Gaze or Geist Wall is a must for dealing with Heat Barrier. Sneak and invisibility are needed to reach all camps. Eye Drops are a help.

 

Wamouracampa Hunting Grounds Camp #1

Wamoura Prince 79-81 Mount Zhayolm

Once you zone into Mount Zhayolm, head to the first camp just past the Gates of Halvung at J-7. If you used the staging point, you'll need invisible to get past the clusters, and if it's night, sneak to pass the Ghosts. To open the gate you need to have the key item one gets from checking the Metal Plate ??? spawns. To get the quest, click the gates then find the active ??? that will give you the key item. It's also possible to reach the camp without the cast iron plates through the Alzadaal Undersea Ruins.

Many Wamouracampa spawn at camp A. If you fight here, be aware that Wamoura can link with them. Wamouracampa do not aggro, but will link with each other. Take care. You can find a safe camp right by the Gates. The supply of Wamouracampa at this camp should be more then enough for learning your spell, but if you wish, you can use camp B or C to find more targets. Camp C is not recommended, as there is a lot of other nasty aggro there.

There are also many Wamoura in Camp B. To reach them you need to pass sight aggro Trolls, and sight, and Job Ability aggro Flans. There is also one sound aggro Clot in the tunnel before the Camp B zone. Take care. There is a safe camp at the tunnel to Halvung at G-7 marked with an 8 on the map above.

The fights are pretty straight forward. Pull a Wamouracampa to a safe camp, and open up on it. These guys have a lot of defense, so having a Black Mage is a big help in putting them down. Your Tank needs to hold hate. A Cannonball into a mage can be deadly. If the Wamouracampa uses Heat Barrier, you need two Dispells to remove the spikes and the enfire. The spikes have to go, they deal a lot of damage. Erasing Amber Scutum is also a good idea, as the Defense Boost it adds is large.

Cannonball will only be used if the Wamouracampa is in it's balled up state. You should have no problems seeing the move, as the fights take a good bit. A solid exp party setup should have no issues with these fights.

While camp C is not recommended, there is a very good camp on the way to it. Enter Halvung at the entrance marked 8 on the first map, and move toward the exit at the one marked 5 on the map above. There are some bombs along the way, so use invisible to get past them. Once you are in the tunnel leading up to the exit to Mount Zhayolm (marked with an 5) you will find two Wamouracampa. They are lower level then the ones found earlier on the Mountain, and thus a bit simpler to kill. Handle them as directed in the Camp #1 notes. There is a red circle marking the location of the two spawns. You can camp near the Mountain zoneline safely.

A Level 70 BLU/NIN can Solo the spell at this Camp!

You will need juices, auto-refresh, and sanction refresh. Having Eithers is very useful. Be sure to have Pinecone Bomb, Blastbomb, Magnetite Cloud or Mysterious Light set. Back up sleep spells will not hurt. Have a way to Dispell set.

The strategy is to kite the Wamouracampa that you find in the tunnel up and down using Blastbombs Bind and Pinecone Bomb's Sleep to gain a bit of time when needed, while dealing steady damage to it with DD spells. The Gravity spells can be a real help. You can melee it, just keep Metallic Body up, so you can cast without getting interrupted if your shadows are down. Always try to keep shadows up. Eating a Cannonball is no fun! If things start to go bad, or you run low on MP sleep the Wamouracampa and zone.

 

 

Wamouracampa Hunting Grounds Camp #3

To reach this camp, you will follow the same path as you did to get to camp #2. You will then need to pass sight aggro Trolls, and sound, magic and Job Ability aggro Flans. At H-7 you will head to the zone in the little tunnel to the south. Zone into Havlung at the point marked with a '4' on the map above.

Once you zone in to Halvung you are at your camp. At D-8, just past the gate you'll find after the Lava lake, you will find a Wamouracampa. Pull it through the gate with a ranged weapon, as there are Magic Agrro Bombs near. The Wamouracampa is lower level then the ones found earlier on the Mountain, and thus a bit simpler to kill. You can handle it as directed in the Camp #1 notes. Camp near the Mountain zoneline for safety.

Cannonball can be learned in a Troll Mercenaries Besieged. You, a party, or alliance member must get the killing blow on the War Wamouracampa for a chance to learn the spell. You do not need to have had engaged the monster yourself to learn the spell.

Cannonball can be learned in Salvage. You need the 1500 Assault points to enter, and to be in the right section. Your party should be able to handle them. They seem much weaker here then in Camp #1.

 

 

Special notes about the spell a Blue Mage may like to know
Can I solo it? No, you cannot. You will need a solid exp party set up to kill the Wamouracampa.
Do I need any special items? Yes, Equipping Blank Gaze and/or Geist Wall is a must. Have sneak and invisible items or spells to reach camp. A party member must have the key item Metal Hatch Plate to open the Gates of Halvung to reach camp. Eye Drops do not hurt, and a warp item will save a walk home.
Do Wamouracampa like to use the move? They seem to use it at least once per fight. It's not rare.
The Spell deals Hand to Hand Blunt class damage. It has a very long range, and the damage will rise as your defense, VIT and STR go up. A favorite spell for dealing solid damage to Gods, and other HLNM's
