Special Notes on Monster and it's TP Moves

Gnoles to be frank, are annoying.

Plenilune Embrace varies based on mob level and moon phase. The closer to full moon, the more HP recovered, and status effects removed. At Full moon the move can recover 25-30% of the Gnoles health.

Most Gnoles (Lobison excepted) will only fight in the non standing position you cannot learn the spell from these Gnolls. The spell can only be learned from the Gnole family Lobison.

The JA 'Provoke' will help make Lobison stand. Getting them to stand might be hate related, as in; build up enough hate with provoke and other hate building ja's and spells, and they get angry and stand to smack you down. How this works is still unclear. But if Provoke is spammed enough they seem to stand.

It goes without saying that Asuran Claws hurts. A Six hit move is not to be giggled at.

Call of the Moon's intimidation rate can be quite high.

Gnoles aggro by sight.

Gnoles seem to have a Regen effect during Nighttime, and are also stronger in general in the night hours.

Standing Lobisons seem to have higher attack, lower accuracy, higher defense, and guard more.

Under a Full Moon Gnoles might gain True sight.

Obtaining the Spell
Minimum Blue Mage Level Needed To Acquire Spell: Level 61 with Magus Jubbah equipped, 64 without.
Asuran Claws is best hunted in Jugner Forest [S].

This spell is difficult to solo due to the base level of Lobison. Odds are you will want a strong merit style party for this spell, though skilled Ninja or /NIN duos could do the job. A WAR or /WAR will aid in making the Lobison stand via Provoke.

Nothing special, other then someone with Provoke and other abilities to generate lots of hate, are needed for hunting the spell outside of a party that can dish out the damage!

Gnole Hunting Grounds Camp #1
Name Level Location
Lobison 82-83?? Jugner Forest [S]

In Jugner Forest [S], at E/F-6 around the Maiden's spring there are eight Lobison type Gnoles. To reach them, teleport in via the Campaign warper, and head east to the camp. Invisible is needed for sight aggro Tigers.

The reason that this is a good camp, even though the Lobison are IT to a level 75 player is that they will switch to standing mode no matter what phase the moon is in. This makes this camp usable at all times. A huge plus. The WAR job Ability 'Provoke' has a part in making the Gnoles stand. Spam it for best effect.

Lobison aggro by both sight, sound and WILL link. Take care when making pulls.

For Party make up, the spell can be duoed by a BLU and NIN/WAR or /NIN Tank. Though a larger party makes things much safer. A PLD tank works well with Gnoles, and can take the hits with some healing support. With these a bigger group is a plus, bring friends to act as support. As long as your main tank is 75 and skilled, winning is not difficult under the lower moon phases. Remember as the moon gets fuller, the Lobison will get stronger. Hunt here at lower moon phases.

All things considered, fights with them are pretty strait forward. Pull a Lobison to a safe camp, and deal damage in a slow fashion while the Tank Provokes until the Lobison stands. Once it is upright, feed it TP quickly, until it uses Asuran Claws. Having your main tank be /NIN is a huge plus, as they will be the one to eat an Asuran Claw when it happens. The shadows can and will save them. Until you see Asuran Claw, Plenilune Embrace is plus as it will keep the Lobison alive longer, and give you more chances to see the move. Once you are going for the kill your Blue Mages should be ready to stun it.

Gnole Hunting Grounds Camp #2
Name Level Location
Lobison 82-83?? La Vaule [S]

Lobison can be found in the Orc Stronghold of La Vaule. They will stand as the ones in Jugnar will, under the same conditions. There is a lot more aggro, and difficulty in reaching them, so they are not as good an option as Camp #1.

Special notes about the spell a Blue Mage may like to know
Can I solo it? Yes, but it's very very difficult, and you'd need /NIN. A duo or party is much better
Do I need any special items? No. Just a lot of skill, or friends.
Do Gnoles like to use the move? Once they stand up, they love it.
The Damage from the spell seems to be far under what was expected for a six-hit spell. It does deal Hand to Hand physical damage of the blunt type. The Counter Trait seems to proc at about a 10% rate.
Asuran Claws can be paired with Enervation to create the Counter Trait.
